This site collects very little. There is no advertising network on it, no third-party tracking scripts, no newsletter, no account system and no contact form. This page describes exactly what does happen.

What we collect
Visit statistics
We record basic, aggregated statistics about how the site is used — which pages are opened, roughly where visitors come from, and which site referred them. This runs on analytics software hosted on our own server. It is used to decide what to write next, not to build a profile of you.
We do not use Google Analytics, advertising pixels, or any third-party tracking service on this site.
Server logs
Like any website, our hosting provider records standard access logs, which include IP addresses, for security and troubleshooting. These are held by the hosting provider under their own retention policy.
Cookies
We do not set advertising or tracking cookies. Some technical cookies may be set by the site software for caching and for site administrators when they log in. Ordinary visitors are not required to accept anything.
What we do not have
- Comments are turned off across the site.
- Visitor registration is closed. You cannot create an account here.
- There is no contact form, no mailing list and no booking system.
- We do not take payments and hold no payment information.
- We do not collect health information. Nothing you read here is tied to you.
If you email us
If you write to us — to report an error on a trail page, or to ask about joining a walk — we keep your message and your email address only for as long as needed to deal with it. We do not add you to any list and we do not pass your message to anyone else.
Embedded content from other sites
Some pages may embed content hosted elsewhere, such as maps or video. Embedded content behaves as though you had visited that other site directly, and those services may collect data about you under their own policies. We have no control over what they collect.
Photographs
Trail photographs on this site are taken by us. Where people are visible and identifiable, we remove or do not publish the image. Location metadata is stripped from uploaded images.
Your rights
Because we hold almost nothing about individual visitors, there is usually nothing to export or delete. If you have emailed us and want that correspondence removed, write to ojick@ojick.com and we will delete it.
If you are in a jurisdiction that grants you rights of access, correction, deletion or objection over personal data, you may exercise them at the same address.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it.
