Songdo Skywalk (Cloud Walkway) to Mojipo Village in a Storm: Gamnaetgil Course 10

Typhoon season in Busan means you learn to read the forecast carefully, and Course 10 was our test of exactly how much wind and rain we were willing to walk through. My friend Woojin and I decided to go anyway, figuring a coastal walk in genuinely bad weather might show us a different side of the trail — and it did, though not in the way we expected.

We started at Jeolyeong Coastal Walkway on Yeongdo, greeted by strong wind and rain heavy enough to make conversation difficult for the first stretch.

Songdo’s cloud walkway in the wind

Songdo Cloud Walkway — a suspended walking bridge that juts out over the water near the old cable car station — is normally one of the more thrilling short detours on this route. In a storm, it’s something else entirely. We caught glimpses of the walkway through driving rain, and while we didn’t attempt to cross it in those conditions, we found ourselves genuinely glad for the shelter of Songdo Beach’s covered promenade area instead.

Songdo Beach and Duro Observatory

Songdo Beach itself was nearly empty — understandably, given the weather — the water churned and grey instead of its usual clear turquoise. We pushed on toward Duro Observatory, a cliffside walking path with several viewpoints, though visibility that day meant most of the “views” were more about the drama of the storm than any actual sightline. Cargo ships sat anchored offshore, waiting out the weather just like we probably should have been.

Mojipo Village and the finish

The trail eventually descends into Mojipo, a small fishing village that marks the end of this course. By the time we arrived, we were both thoroughly soaked, but there’s a certain satisfaction in finishing a walk that actively tried to talk you out of it. We warmed up over instant coffee at a small shop near the finish before heading home.

A few practical notes

We’d genuinely recommend checking the forecast more carefully than we did — Songdo Cloud Walkway and the Duro Observatory cliffs are both directly exposed to sea wind, and can close or become unsafe in serious storms. In normal weather this is a straightforward, scenic coastal walk with one of Busan’s better suspension-bridge photo spots at Songdo. Mojipo Village at the finish has a few small cafés if you need to warm up or dry off.

Walked in mid-July during heavy rain and wind, close to typhoon-adjacent conditions — not a day we’d necessarily recommend repeating, but memorable all the same.
